Manchester United transfer target Gleison Bremer wanted by other clubs as defender’s asking price set by Torino
According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve (h/t The Sun), Torino have apparently set a price tag on the head of their defender Gleison Bremer for interested clubs to sign him at the end of the season, with Manchester United keen on snapping up the player.
Bremer has been one of the Serie A side’s most consistent performers this term, putting in brilliant displays on the pitch week in and week out, despite his team sitting eleventh in the league table. One of Torino’s lone sparks, he looks set for a move in the summer given the interest surrounding him.
United are one of the clubs who are monitoring the defender as they look to beef up things at the back and look more solid next season as they aim to put aside this season’s disappointment and move on. The team are currently in danger of missing out on a top-four spot, occupying seventh position in the Premier League table.
The lack of a strong defence this season has been a major reason for this downfall, with centre-backs Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane failing to impress. Last season, the Red Devils had finished second in the league with Maguire and Lindelof, so expectations were sky high when Varane was brought in earlier in the season.
Price tag for Bremer revealed
Their poor performances this term has seen the club create a wishlist of defensive reinforcements to target in the summer, and Bremer could be an ideal addition. However, they will have to pay at least £25m to convince Torino to part ways with their star defender.
Not just this, they will also have to beat competition from a host of clubs at the end of the season as Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Juventus, and Bayern Munich are also in the running to sign him. Evidently, the Brazilian star’s stock has seen a massive rise this term.
The dip in form from Maguire and Lindelof is shocking, given how they managed to perform well last season as we finished runners-up to Manchester City in the PL. Varane’s experience with Real Madrid and France have not helped either, with the Frenchman bogged down by injuries and poor form.
Although club captain, Maguire has been particularly poor and unable to lead the team by example. Schoolboy errors have been committed, and stronger opposition attackers have brushed past him with ease. His inability to replicate his form with England at club level is also worrisome.

If United were to snap up Bremer in the summer, the Brazilian is expected to compete with Maguire, Lindelof, and Varane for a starting spot in defence. Presently, Varane and Maguire are first-choice at centre-back, so he will have to dislodge one of them to make his mark on the side- that is, if he joins us in the near future.
Hopefully, we are able to beat out the other clubs interested in Bremer ahead of the new campaign. Defensive reinforcements are a necessity if we are to compete for trophies next term, and Bremer’s presence at the back could help us achieve that.
