Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby sends a message on his future amidst Manchester United interest

Bayer Leverkusen attacker Moussa Diaby has sent a message regarding his future prospects amidst interest from Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window. He is one of the highly-rated talents in the Bundesliga and could be in line to seek a new challenge at the end of the season.

Diaby has been in fine form this season, having scored 16 goals and assisted nine more from 35 matches across all competitions. It is no wonder why clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United have also targeted him alongside Man United ahead of this summer transfer window, according to Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger (h/t Football.London).

Speaking in an interview with Le Parisien (h/t Football.London), the Frenchman admitted that he is assessing his options regarding a potential move this summer. However, he added that his mind is currently set on completing this campaign with Leverkusen with Champions League qualification on the cards.

“Obviously, I’m thinking about it, but not too much yet. I remain focused on the end of the season. For the moment it is my only concern. I want to play all the high-level matches and the CL is one of them. The objective is to qualify with Bayer for the Champions League. I love participating in games with pressure.”

Man Utd to fight it out?

It is pretty clear from the 22-year-old’s words that he is very eager to play in the Champions League at all costs. As such, the Red Devils have been given an objective that they need to achieve by the end of this term. Losing out on the top four places in the Premier League could harm our chances of signing the winger.

What concerns us even further is the interest from the Gunners, who are in a better position to achieve CL qualification for next season. They could potentially gain the edge over us if the current situation continues to be the same.

It is normal for promising targets to be influenced by the prospect of playing in the CL. As such, we must turn things around in the remainder of this campaign to get into the top four spots in the league table. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen.

As for Diaby, he would undoubtedly be a great prospect to add to our squad, especially when he can easily play on both sides of the wings without a drop in performance. We lack options on the right-hand side of the attack, so signing him for £50million would be a great piece of business from our side.

The price tag is reasonable for someone who has performed really well and still has the potential to grow even further. That is without even taking into account his contract, which only expires in 2025. Only time will tell if the Manchester club will sign him or not in the future.
