Manchester United star Paul Pogba back on Barcelona radar after huge Spotify deal
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United star Paul Pogba is once again back on the radar of Barcelona after the Spanish side wrapped up a huge sponsorship deal with music streaming giant Spotify.
Pogba returned to Old Trafford in 2016 after four successful years away at Juventus, where he made himself a global name in football with his performances in midfield. However, his second spell at the club has not been as successful as it was in Italy, and he now looks set for a move away.
With the player’s current deal at Old Trafford expiring in the summer, he could move to another team for free ahead of the new season, with Barcelona becoming a potential destination.
Into the final six months of his contract with United, Pogba is free to speak to foreign clubs about signing a pre-contract agreement, and the Catalan giants could look to take advantage of this situation.
Spotify mega deal
The Frenchman currently earns £250,000-a-week in Manchester, but given Barcelona’s dire financial situation this season, their original interest in the midfielder had cooled down due to his wage demands.
However, last week saw the Catalan club sign a mega sponsorship deal with Spotify worth an estimated £235m over four years. Given the financial pump that the La Liga giants have received recently, it now looks like they could come up with an attractive package to tempt Pogba to join them next season.
Barcelona seems to be undergoing a silent revolution this term under new manager Xavi Hernandez, who seems to have slowly turned the fortunes of the side around in just a few months of his arrival. Their defeat of arch-rivals Real Madrid 4-0 away from home last night proves just this.
Barca look to be up and coming once again under Xavi, and the project being led under him is exciting to convince any player to join them. Perhaps, Pogba could be tempted to continue his playing career in a different league with a different team given the recent success the Catalan club have had.

Man United, however, are also looking to replicate the same Barca success story next season by appointing a new permanent manager next term to usher in a new era of success. It has now been five years since their last trophy, and the drought needs to be ended soon.
There has been no official communication from either Pogba or the Manchester side about them parting ways. Hopefully, we see the France international continue his career in England with us under a new project, rather than join Barcelona’s.
