Cristiano Ronaldo holds crunch talks with agent Jorge Mendes over his future at Manchester United
According to The Sun, Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo has held crunch talks with his agent Jorge Mendes about a possible exit from the club at the end of the season.
Ronaldo made a return to United at the beginning of the 2021/22 season, sealing a comeback to the club where he rose to fame and won the first of his 5 Ballon d’Or trophies. However, it looks like the player could move on after just a single campaign.
The player’s second spell in Manchester has not gone according to plan, with the player looking out of form and struggling to score goals – especially in the second half of the season. Known to be a serial winner, trophies have not come his way this year either.
The forward is apparently still furious after being dropped for the Manchester derby last weekend, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick feeling he was better used as a substitute in the game. The player subsequently complained of an injury and flew out to Portugal, missing the game altogether.
Showdown talks with Mendes
This situation surrounding the former Real Madrid man has also now caused some tension at the training ground, with other stars aware of Ronaldo’s mood and some senior players supportive of him. Rangnick certainly seems to be feeling the effects of his decision as he tries to unite the entire squad.
Ronaldo’s agent Mendes has worked actively to calm the player down about the entire situation. However, the Portuguese superstar is severely unhappy with his current state at United and is pushing for a summer exit, so Mendes may be fighting a losing battle at keeping him in Manchester for a while.
Having hit the ground running at Old Trafford for his second spell with the club, Ronaldo has not enjoyed the journey to where he is at now. Goals flowed in the first half of the season, and he was particularly impressive in dragging the side to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
2022 however, has not gone to plan for either Ronaldo or the Red Devils. The ex-Juventus ace seems to have misplaced his scoring boots, and United have slipped down the Premier League table and lie in fifth place.

Saturday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur will be crucial for our top-four hopes, given that Spurs are also vying to secure Champions League football next season. The Lilywhites are only two points behind us, but have two games in hand.
Securing a top-four spot is important for another reason as well, as the club have already been told that Ronaldo will definitely be looking to leave if he has no UCL football next term to look forward to.
