Transfer News: Fiorentina and AS Roma are interested in Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot
According to Calciomercato (h/t Caughtoffside), Serie A clubs Fiorentina and AS Roma are interested in securing the services of Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot. The young defender is currently in talks for a new contract with the Red Devils
The Portuguese professional footballer has seen a resurgence in his playing time under interim manager Ralf Rangnick. The 22-year-old has been the preferred option under the German manager despite Aaron Wan-Bissaka featuring more prominently in recent features.
The English wing-back started the Manchester derby but had an underwhelming performance, to say the least. None of the two have actually pinned down a starting place in that position ever since the arrival of Rangnick even though Dalot has shown glimpses of what he can do if given enough opportunities.
The former Porto player made 33 appearances across all competitions for AC Milan during his loan spell with the San Siro outfit. During that time he managed to bag two goals and three assists for the Rossoneri.
The Portuguese right-back brings a lot going forward and his abilities with the ball could make him a great acquisition for any club. At 22, Dalot still has some of his best peak footballing years ahead of him and can develop into an even greater talent.
The lack of consistency has perhaps been a stinging issue at times but he has showcased his abilities on several occasions with the Old Trafford outfit. Whilst Wan-Bissaka was enjoying a great time last campaign, he has struggled to recreate that form this season.
Dalot has acted as a more than capable replacement on several instances and one could even say that he is in a great position to challenge the English wing-back for starters right now. His loss could be a big blow for the club considering that Man Utd doesn’t really possess a lot of depth in said position.

Whilst Brandon Williams who is on loan at Norwich City currently has shown great promise in the wing-back position, Dalot seems to be more integrated with the first-team setup at the moment. His experience with the club from Milan could be a significant reason why the Serie A clubs have shown their interest in him.
