Newcastle hold talks over potential €60m transfer deal for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford
According to Todo Fichajes (h/t CaughtOffside), Newcastle United are looking to strike a transfer deal for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, and have already opened talks regarding a potential move in the summer.
News recently broke out about Rashford wanting to depart his boyhood club for regular first time football elsewhere, with the forward unhappy about the opportunities he was getting at Old Trafford this season.
Taking advantage of this situation, mega-rich Newcastle are working on securing the services of the Englishman ahead of the next season. The club are recently on the rise in the Premier League after climbing out of the relegation zone and going on a winning run.
Rashford, meanwhile, has been having a poor campaign for the Red Devils. The 24-year-old looks short on confidence and form, barely looking like the exciting young forward that United fans knew him to be.
Bargain price for Magpies
His poor form this term has also led to him warming the bench for the Old Trafford side. Against Manchester City last weekend, the England international found himself making only a substitute appearance in the second half despite senior striker Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani missing from the matchday squad.
This lack of minutes has led to him looking for regular football outside Manchester, and the player is likely to cost around €60m to any interested club. For the Magpies, this price could end up being a bargain if Rashford gets back to his best in the remaining games of the season and picks up form once again.
Having come through the ranks at United’s academy, news about Rashford considering his future at the club would come as a shock to many supporters, given the impact the local boy from Manchester has had on the first team since his debut.
He became an instant hero on his European and Premier League debuts, scoring a brace in both games as the Red Devils found themselves an exciting young forward after ages, probably since Wayne Rooney’s introduction to Old Trafford.

Despite being known to be a quick and effective player up front, Rashford has looked like a shadow of himself this season as he has visibly struggled in front of goal and looks out of ideas when coming up against a strong opposition defence.
Newcastle’s interest in the star is certainly worrisome to hear about, given the financial strength they possess with their new Saudi owners. It is never easy saying goodbye to a beloved academy star, so we can hope that Rashford recovers his form soon and kicks on further in his United career, and go on to become a club legend.
