Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho discusses his strengths as a footballer
Speaking to the club’s official website, Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho discussed his biggest footballing strengths on the pitch and revealed that drawing in his opponents to make space for his teammates is his best trait.
The Englishman moved to Man United the previous summer from Borussia Dortmund, where the player honed his skills to become the fine winger that he is today. He was last seen on the pitch scoring against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, where he was an academy player.
When asked about his best strength on the football pitch, Sancho said that it was his ability to draw in his markers to free up space for his teammates, so he could release the ball and get his side going in attack.
“I feel my best strength is probably drawing one or two players towards me to then free up space for my team-mates and then to release the ball.”
Dortmund fans can tell you all about the attacker’s quick feet and electric pace, with the player being a revelation in the Bundesliga during his four years in Germany. It was his fine attacking displays that caught the Red Devils’ eye and prompted them to move for him last year.
“Committing my players”
Despite not having a blockbuster start to life back in England, the winger has slowly looked back to being at his best. The England international is arguably the club’s most in-form player at the moment, and we can hope that he continues this form until the end of the season.
Sancho also highlighted that he loved being in one-on-one situations against the opposition. United fans have seen the player use his trickery to get past his marker in situations like this and get fans on their feet in stadiums.
“Committing my players is my strong point and obviously one-v-ones is another aspect.”
Many were surprised to see Sancho struggle in his initial few months at United, especially since he grew up playing football in England and trained with the City academy before heading to Dortmund. However, many forget that the player is only 21, and it is never easy for any player to move to another league and adapt quickly, let alone such a young star.
Now an England international as well, Sancho has seen his stock rise in recent years with his performances earning plaudits from critics and fans. In fact, the Red Devils had to fork out a whopping £73m to sign him the previous summer, despite being a young player.

The ex-Dortmund man is sure to only get better with more games and age, and United offer him a chance to do that by giving him regular playing time. The player seems to have locked down the left-winger position as his own, and if he continues on this path, he could very well be one of the best attackers that the club has seen.
For now, we can hope that Sancho’s goals and strengths help us secure a top-four position at the end of the season in order to play Champions League football next term. Ambitious stars like him dream of playing in the world’s best competition, and there is hardly anything better than the UCL in European football.
