Mauricio Pochettino is in favour of keeping Marcus Rashford at Manchester United if he is appointed manager
According to the Daily Mail, incumbent Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is among the favourites to land the Manchester United permanent job in the summer, is likely to keep forward Marcus Rashford at the club next season, should he get the job.
The English international shocked many after news broke after the team’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in the derby that the forward was considering his future at Old Trafford due to a lack of playing time. Against Man City, Rashford had to make do with a substitute appearance in the second half.
It is understood that PSG made inquiries last summer about signing the 24-year-old, but the Red Devils had no intention of letting him exit. The academy product has a contract with his boyhood club that runs out in the summer of 2023.
The Ligue 1 club are eyeing Rashford as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is out of contract in France at the end of the season and is widely expected to leave for free. Thus far, Rashford has not personally indicated his desire to leave Old Trafford.
Pochettino the key factor for Rashford
A new permanent manager is expected at the Theatre of Dreams ahead of next season, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s tenure expiring in the summer. Clearly, any decision Rashford makes on his future will be decided on what the new person in the dugout has in mind.
