According to Daily Star, Donny van de Beek will be looking to leave Manchester United and join Everton on a permanent transfer at the end of the season. He moved to Goodison Park in the January transfer window on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign.

Van de Beek is content with how Frank Lampard has treated him and has been privy to regular game time at Goodison Park. Hence, he is not sold on returning to Old Trafford, just to sit on the bench for longer periods. As such, he has plans to join the Toffees permanently ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

However, the Dutchman will only push for a transfer if the Merseyside club could stay afloat in the Premier League next term. They are dangerously close to the drop zone and would need to fight for their survival for the rest of this season. However, both sides would also need to agree on a fee to facilitate a move next summer.

What will Man Utd do?

The 24-year-old struggled to get into the starting lineup or even get minutes as a substitute since joining the Red Devils back in 2020. One would have thought that the midfielder could have enjoyed much more prominence looking at the £35million we paid to Ajax Amsterdam for his services.

Expectations were high given Van de Beek’s performances in the Eredivisie where he thrived as an attacking midfielder. However, the presence of Bruno Fernandes has acted as a roadblock to him with little joy under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

However, that still does not explain the extent to which the former Ajax man has had to settle for time on the bench. As such, it would be best for all the parties to part ways with each other. That could change if the new manager demands the midfielder’s services in the future.

Hence, it is integral that Man United bring in a full-time manager as soon as possible. Only then can we plan effectively for the upcoming summer transfer window. Once that is taken care of, the board can decide over the Dutch international’s future after referring to the new manager.

That being said, it is claimed that Man United could finalise Donny van de Beek’s move for around £20million despite the Premier League star having a contract at Old Trafford until 2026. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop in the coming months, the closer we get to the summer transfer window.
