Arsenal and Chelsea set to enter the transfer race for Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to the Spanish publication Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in securing the signature of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window. This update would be a major blow to his side as the risk of losing him next season increases with each passing day.
Pogba is in the final five months of his current deal and could leave Old Trafford on a free at the end of the season. The central midfielder could legally sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs if he has made up his mind to move elsewhere. Man United are already planning for life after him which could be a sign of things to come.
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to offer the Frenchman a contract as they look to prise him away before others. Interestingly enough, Newcastle United also joins Mikel Artera’s side and the Blues, and all three are touted to be in contention to challenge for his securing his services.
Major concern!
Losing one of our players to a direct rival would be a blow in and of itself, but if it is someone like the 28-year-old, then the matter is made even worse. After all, we would be dealt a massive reduction in quality while bolstering one of our competitors in the process.
This piece of information is made even worse when one considers the claim from The Telegraph (Subscription Required). They had stated that the Red Devils ace is open to listening to offers from other Premier League clubs if a departure from the Manchester club is on the cards.
The France international had recently returned from a long term injury and has made an instant impact on our team’s performance. He has instilled more control within the squad, which was not the case prior to his recovery. As such, the prospect of losing him is difficult to take in, let alone the possibility of our rivals signing him in the process.

The board must do their best and try to convince the Man United superstar to sign an extension with us. That could prove to be difficult with the managerial uncertainty, so they must address that problem in the meantime. However, since they are preparing for his exit, the possibility of a worst-case scenario is increasing day by day.
If we are bound to lose the French midfielder, it would be best if PSG would be his next destination. A match-winner on his day, we would rather Pogba take his talents elsewhere than contribute to the success of a domestic rival.
