Despite the fatigue and lack of strength, the team managed to finish the game with a score of 3:3 and 2:2 in the group stage, but there could have been even more goals, so this result can be considered very good.

During the match, many dangerous moments could have ended with goals against the English team – one of these moments happened when the German footballer Karsten Janker sent the ball into the bottom corner into the lap with the post. However, everything ended well for the team. Manchester United played great.

Manchester United 2:1 Barcelona, 1991

Another amazing match took place in 1991. Back then, there was a ban on English clubs from European competitions, so many of the best English footballers moved to other leagues.

In particular, this was done by Mark Hughes, who then played with Terry Venables for Barcelona – in the match, which took place at the De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam, he opened the scoring and scored the ball in the 67th minute. Seven minutes later, the second goal took place – then Hughes bypassed goalkeeper Carles Busquets and made a top corner goal.

Opposing player Ronald Koeman saved one goal with a long-range free-kick, after which another Spanish goal was disallowed. As a result, Ferguson’s men managed to win their first European trophy since the 1960s.
