Transfer News: Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba open to assess Premier League offers in summer

According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is ready to listen to offers from other Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window.

Should a move materialise, it would deal a damning blow to the Red Devils as they would not only lose a world-class player but also strengthen one of their direct PL rivals in the process.

Pogba is in line to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign. There have been no signs that an extension would be agreed upon with Man United anytime soon. He has attracted attention from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus for a Bosman transfer ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman has currently put a stop to the discussions as he wants to focus on recapturing his form after returning from injury. That being said, he has not ruled out any options ahead of him so far, which means that he could even stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer.

Not good

He has certainly fared well after returning from injury, and we would want him to continue doing so for the remainder of this season. But delaying his decision to such an extent would only make United more anxious given his contract gets closer to expiry every passing day.

That being said, it is concerning to see that the 28-year-old will be open to accepting proposals from our rivals. It would certainly be odd to see him don the colours of another PL team and given this situation, it is safe to say that in case Pogba does leave, our fans would want him to play for a foreign club.

However, there is still some time before the season ends. If Pogba wanted to stay at Old Trafford, surely he would have penned a new deal by now. But then again, contract negotiations, especially with an agent like Mino Raiola, aren’t the easiest task in the world.

The Red Devils ace’s influence on our team has been evident in recent games. Even though the entire team has struggled at times, he has been a crucial part in phases where we have dominated our opponents. Him being subbed on against Brighton and Hove Albion completely switched the game in our favour in the second 45 minutes of the game.

The former Bianconeri midfielder has already made it clear through his recent performances that he deserves to be given a new contract. Whether we can reach an agreement with him or not remains to be seen as we near the summer transfer window.
