Ralf Rangnick decides to retain Brandon Williams at Manchester United next season
According to The Sun, Brandon Williams will definitely stay at Manchester United next season as Ralf Rangnick has decided to take this route after being impressed by the youngster. He has taken his game up a notch even since Dean Smith took over the managerial role at Norwich City.
The Red Devils boss revealed his stance to Williams when Man United faced off against Norwich back in December. The interim manager appears to be sold on the starlet and rates him highly as a result. His speed and versatility to play on both sides of the pitch caught Rangnick’s eye, causing him to take this stance.
The young defender was left impressed by the 63-year-old taking time out of his busy schedule to address his opinion. The boss was going through a lot of things at that moment, having just got into the Old Trafford job. This decision could potentially be a boon to the Red Devils as they have some issues to deal with in the wide areas.
The season of resurgence?
The 21-year-old moved to Carrow Road at the beginning of this season after a rather forgetful 2021-22 campaign. Great things were expected of him following his move to Carrow Road but life was difficult under Daniel Farke. The Canaries were also underperforming under Farke, which also played a part in the Man United loanee’s underperformance.
Norwich looks a different beast under Smith and have given themselves a fighting chance of staving off relegation this season. That eventually led to the Man United starlet’s rise in recent weeks, which was highlighted last month as he won the club’s Player of the Month award.
It is good to know that the German coach is already planning ahead for the future by looking at the young talents that he has at his disposal. It will be interesting to see what the plans are for the Red Devils academy star once he returns to the club.

After all, Luke Shaw and Alex Telles currently hold the left-hand side of the defence in their hands. Both of them have had their struggles this season, so it is very difficult to pinpoint how this situation will develop in the months to come.
The English fullback can also play on the right-hand side, where a spot could become vacant because of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The latter has not fared well for quite some time, which could pave the way for his exit soon. That being said, it is difficult to see the loanee being used there regularly when he has only been used there during dire times. Time will tell what lies in store for him next season.
