Manchester United receive boost as Mauricio Pochettino reach “breaking point” with PSG

According to Goal (h/t The Sun), Manchester United have been handed an update on Mauricio Pochettino regarding his future prospects at PSG. Supposedly, he is at a “breaking point” with the French side ahead of their crucial first leg tie against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Pochettino continues to be on the managerial shortlist of Man United as they look to find someone to take over the wheel long term. Ralf Rangnick is currently managing on an interim basis, which means that they need a solid option to build a solid project for the future.

It is claimed that Paris Saint-Germain will part ways with the Argentinian if performances do not improve moving forward. His failure to trim the squad by having a solid idea about what he needs have added to these concerns. They have been eyeing Zinedine Zidane as a potential option if he is fired in the future. As such, “Pochettino’s relationship with PSG is nearing breaking point” with the Real clash just on the horizon.

Pochettino- the right man?

Apparently, the Ligue 1 club will decide to sack the Argentinian if they do not get the better of Los Blancos in the round of 16 ties. We could get an idea about his future depending upon the outcome of the fiercely contested first-leg clash, which will take place tomorrow night.

However, there is still the question about whether he is the right man for the job at Old Trafford or not. He has done well during his time with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. Although, his shortcomings were also highlighted during his stints in the Premier League.

Moreover, those who matched him in France would know that he has failed to set up Les Parisiens in an entertaining fashion, which has caused this current situation. Once you are managing a team that has Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Sergio Ramos, you would always be under the microscope the moment your team slips up in the slightest.

But that is the thing about football clubs and players- each one is different from the other. We can only know if Poch suits our club once he spends some time in our dugout. He has clearly built a decent enough C.V. and impressed the right people to be managing a club like PSG and being in consideration for the Man United job.

PSG would certainly be a lot of people’s favourites for the UCL this season. Their squad is stacked from front to the back and with a super-team, anything but success on all fronts would be viewed as a failure on Poch’s part.

We have not been able to replace Sir Alex Ferguson properly, and maybe we never will. After all, it’s a near-impossible task to bring in another gaffer like that. But we must not rush into any decision and wait until the summer- with Rangnick in charge of the team until then.

If Poch becomes available, it would save us the headache of fiercely negotiating with PSG. But then again, that will only matter if all parties are interested in making this move happen. The PSG boss is apparently interested in managing us but Richard Arnold views Erik Ten Hag as a better candidate.
