Transfer News: Manchester United are eager to meet the ‘huge’ wage demand made by Antonio Rudiger
According to transfer news from Football Insider, Manchester United have held preliminary talks with the agent of Antonio Rudiger in an attempt to accept the enormous wage demand made by the defender.
Antonio Rudiger has developed himself into one of the world’s top central defenders in recent years. Whenever he is on the pitch, he makes a massive difference for Chelsea. With three goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions, the defender has also shown that he is more than just a centre-back and can influence the game in the other half of the pitch as well.
Even though the Blues wouldn’t lose such a strong central defender in his peak years, the current situation can go against the West London team’s plans. The German defender hasn’t signed a contract extension and is demanding a tremendous wage demand.
As the January transfer window has passed, the defender is in the advantageous position to ask for a better deal or leave Thomas Tuchel’s team for free in the summer. The latter can be very beneficial for a lot of European giants, including the Red Devils.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with Rudiger in recent times. Now it is believed that the Red Devils have agreed to accept the £300,000-a-week wage demand after opening preliminary talks with the entourage of the German star. It is also claimed that our team is set to make a move if his contract talks with Chelsea fail.
Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also kept a close eye on the situation. The foreign teams have the advantage in signing him into a pre-contractual deal. In such a case, they can avoid excessive competition in the summer transfer window by sealing a deal beforehand.
A good deal for Manchester United?
Manchester United defence has shown massive vulnerabilities in this campaign. Harry Maguire has made huge blunders in this campaign that put the team on the backfoot. On top of that, Raphaël Varane has yet to completely settle in the team.
