Barcelona believe Ousmane Dembele has a pre-contract agreement with Juventus or Manchester United
According to the Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona believes Ousmane Dembele has reached a pre-contract agreement with either Juventus or Manchester United in the January transfer window. He is likely to leave Camp Nou at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
Dembele is in line to become a free agent next summer, which had prompted Barca to put him on the market last month. However, much to their surprise, he had refused to entertain any offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea. That has caused them to believe that he may have pledged his allegiance to Juve or Man United.
The Catalans have reached this conclusion because of the lack of inactivity from both those clubs during the latter stages of the winter transfer window. The Red Devils had tried their chances in the previous transfer windows, while the Bianconeri were in talks with the Frenchman’s agent multiple times in the recent months.
The Spanish club could send the 24-year-old to the stands for the remainder of the season, but that has not deterred him in the slightest. It will be interesting to see where his next destination will be when the current campaign ends in the summer. That would give a much better idea if Barcelona’s belief has any substance.
Truth or fiction?
If we do have a pre-contract agreement with the La Liga star, it could turn out to be a potentially great piece of business. However, he could have to reduce his current wages, worth £210,000-a-week, which does not justify his output in the slightest. If his ridiculous salary demands are anything to go by, it is doubtful that we have agreed to terms with him.
But if the Blaugrana star has indeed reduced his wages to move to Old Trafford, we could have a great deal on our hands. There would be concerns about his injury history but hopefully, the worst of it is behind him. The 25-year-old still has years left in his playing career to reach the potential he showed at Borussia Dortmund and will hopefully do so in red.

The France international’s scouting report for the past year as per FBREF shows us that he still plays at a high level despite the struggles he faced at Barcelona. A change of air could do him good and a move to Old Trafford could prove to be a win-win.
Moreover, Jesse Lingard will leave us after this season whereas Edinson Cavani‘s and Anthony Martial’s futures remain uncertain. So we may end up needing forward additions next summer, which makes the prospect of getting the Barca star even better. Time will tell whether we have got our man.
