Manchester United dealt Endrick transfer blow following Real Madrid admission
Manchester United have received a blow in the transfer race to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick following his comments about Real Madrid. He is highly regarded as the next big thing to come out of Brazil as a result of his excellent performances at the youth level.
The 15-year-old has attracted attention from across Europe due to his displays with clubs like Real, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea monitoring the situation alongside Man United. Among them, the Madrid-based club has started negotiations with the player’s representatives to discuss a potential move in the future.
Speaking in an interview with Mario Cortegana of MARCA via Fabrizio Romano (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Brazilian expressed his love for Los Blancos while conveying that he likes to learn about their history. The teenager added that he is yearning for them to win another Champions League in the future.
“I love Real Madrid a lot! I read Real Madrid’s history. I’m rooting for them to win another Champions League.”
Big deal?
The Spanish club is handed an edge after the youngster’s words since they are also one of the clubs keen on signing him. Moreover, they are engaged in conversations about a future transfer, and given their track record with young Brazilians recently, we can’t put it past them to seal this deal as well.
Endrick’s fondness of Madrid isn’t a surprise given their illustrious history and global reach. They also secured the signings of Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr in recent years, and with Eder Militao and Casemiro also in their squad, they have a strong Brazilian backbone in their team. However, there are countless examples of players who are fans of a particular club but play for another team.
We would have it tough in prising away the Verdao star from others, but it would have been a challenge nonetheless. Since he is yet to turn 16, he cannot be offered a professional contract. Plus, the laws surrounding underage players prevent foreign clubs from signing them before they turn 18- a major barrier if we want to secure the services of the teenager as soon as possible.
That being said, a pre-contract agreement can be reached after the Brazilian starlet becomes 16, so we would need to be ready to make our case. He has been likened to Ronaldo Nazario and Romario and those who have watched the youngster play, know that the sky is the limit for him.
The Palmeiras forward is not a finished project but it would not hurt us to get hold of someone who could become a future star. We need to plan ahead when players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani eventually leave the club.
