Manchester United dealt blow from Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham amidst Liverpool interest

According to The Express, Manchester United have received a blow in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham amidst interest from Liverpool for a future transfer. He is one of the emerging talents in Europe and has been tipped by many to reach the top following his breakthrough at a young age.

Bellingham still has more than three years left in his deal with the Black and Yellow, making it difficult for any interested party to try their chances of signing him. He has been linked with a departure for a while, with the Premier League touted as the most probable destination.

Man United are apparently leading the race alongside the Reds in the pursuit to get the services of the 18-year-old. The former has been dealt a blow after one fan asked the midfielder about the prospect of moving to Old Trafford in the future. He brushed aside the question with a laugh and replied by saying: “Don’t be silly.”

Meaningful response?

Even if the Englishman had plans of joining us in the future, it would have been unprofessional to reveal the desire in that scenario. As such, we should not mind too much about his reaction since that is how footballers usually deal with transfer questions by giving nothing away to the public.

The Manchester club has had a long-standing interest in the Bundesliga star, so we should try our best to get him when we can. Plus, we lost out the race to get him when he was at Birmingham City when Dortmund got the better of us. We cannot allow a repeat of that to happen.

We tried to get the England international to our youth ranks with the help of Sir Alex Ferguson, who helped him and his family get accustomed to the club. It was in vain as he eventually chose to move to Germany, but Sir Alex certainly laid the groundwork if a future move was to ever happen.

The Dortmund superstar has been sensational this season as well, with four goals and ten assists to his name from 28 appearances across all competitions. Those who watched him regularly would know that he is much more than just his goals and assists, and at his age, he has a long time left before he enters the best years of his career.

There are concerns about Paul Pogba’s future at the club with his contract winding up next summer. He could end up leaving and if that is ever the case, Bellingham would be more than a solid replacement.

Whether we would sign the England starlet or not remains to be seen at the end of this season. But it is never a bad sign seeing our club get linked with the cream of the crop in Europe.
