Jesse Lingard’s brother lashes out at Manchester United after Newcastle United debacle
According to Daily Mail Online, Jesse Lingard‘s brother has expressed his discontent towards Manchester United following the debacle that surrounded the failed move to join Newcastle United. The loan attempt broke down after Man United’s demands turned out to be too much for the Magpies to fulfil.
Louie Scott conveyed that his brother is a prisoner at Old Trafford and compared his situation to popular singer Akon. Newcastle were interested in signing him, but the Red Devils wanted their demands to be met for facilitating a move. That eventually resulted in the Toons withdrawing their interest.
Scott posted the remark on his Instagram handle and referred to Lingard’s loan move at West Ham as a ‘day release’. He used a picture of the Englishman celebrating for the Hammers alongside three laughing emojis to mock the club. He said:
“A year ago today he was ‘allowed’ out on day release. Now we know what Akon felt like.”
Messy situation
This clash could have easily been avoided had Ralf Rangnick’s side put forward reasonable demands that could have been met by Newcastle. Instead, their terms could have taken the fee to £15million in total, which alone explains why the Magpies backed down with their interest.
That asking price for a loan transfer is outrageous in itself especially when Lingard is in line to become a free agent next summer. The reaction from his camp is understandable and we cannot really hold anything against them in this situation.
The 29-year-old has been a long-standing servant for us so his treatment at the hands of Rangnick’s side is difficult to see. It does not make sense either, as it would have been a perfect opportunity for us to get some reasonable funds this month. In turn, we have clearly messed up the situation with just over a day left in the January window.
West Ham United, Leicester City, Everton and Aston Villa are also monitoring the situation, so it would be interesting to see if we can get a deal over the line this month. It remains to be seen if we let Lingard join the London-based outfit since strengthening them would mean buffing up a top-four rival this season.
We should try to move him out before Monday’s deadline date passes, or else this could lead to disharmony moving forward. Let’s hope that the board would try to fix their mistake for the benefit of all parties.

Lingard has been a loyal servant at the club and there is no reason why we cannot compromise on at least some of our demands to let Lingard, now 29, join a club where he can enjoy playing regular football.
