Transfer News: Barcelona demands Manchester United target Ousmane Dembele to leave this January

According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football365), Barcelona director Mateu Alemany has demanded Manchester United target Ousmane Dembele to leave this January transfer window. He has been linked with a move elsewhere in recent weeks as a result of uncertainty surrounding his future at Camp Nou.

Dembele will see his current deal with Barca expire at the end of the 2021-22 season. He could reach a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs this month if he has decided to depart his current club. He has also attracted interest from Newcastle United as they try to boost their squad to survive relegation.

Alemany was adamant that the 24-year-old needs to leave this month since the latter has no intentions to continue with them moving forward. He has issued a warning that the winger has to depart the club at any cost before the winter transfer window closes down.

“It’s clear that Dembélé does NOT want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project. We told Dembélé he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before Jan 31.”

Man Utd to try their cards this month?

If the Blaugrana club are looking to sell the Frenchman before the winter market closes, we must not pursue him as there is no need for it. Our priorities lie in midfield since the team has struggled to maintain control in the centre of the pitch, which has simultaneously affected our performances throughout this season.

While the prospect of signing the La Liga winger is exciting to think about, it is high time that the board should start making reasonable decisions at this club. We have more than enough players in the attacking areas, which should make it clear to those at the top what their decision should be.

We signed Jadon Sancho the previous summer, whereas players like Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard can play on the wings. Moreover, Ralf Rangnick has used a 4-2-2-2 system, for the most part, to get the best out of the players who are available for selection.

As such, there is no reason for the management to try their chances to get the signature of the France international, even if it means we could get him on a cut-price deal. After all, fixing the issues within the team should be given our attention rather than looking towards luxury additions. Let’s hope that the board makes a reasonable decision regarding this subject in the coming days.
