Transfer News: Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek offered to Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund on loan

According to Manchester Evening News, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund have been talked to about facilitating a move for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek in the January transfer window. His struggle for gametime has continued under Ralf Rangnick so far.

Discussions were held with Newcastle and Dortmund over the prospect of signing Van de Beek on a loan deal in search of more minutes for him. He is open to the idea of leaving Old Trafford due to a lack of playing time which has been a long-standing issue, especially during the days of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, a temporary transfer is unlikely to be on the cards as Rangnick is still testing out the waters with his midfield. As such, the Dutchman will most probably stay for the rest of the season despite him being open to moving elsewhere. He could get more game time moving forward due to the congested fixture list and once the boss decides on his strongest midfield.

What next for Donny?

The 24-year-old did feature in the FA Cup tie against Aston Villa recently, and he was influential to an extent as we earned more control after his introduction. His short display was not overlooked by the German coach since the latter praised him following the match.

That could be a turnaround for the former Ajax man as he would want to earn more minutes to regain his lost spot in the Dutch national team. The 63-year-old manager changed the system during the final stages against Villa, where we played a diamond formation to suit the introduction of the midfielder.

If Rangnick remains keen on overloading his midfield in such a way, there may well be space for the ex-Ajax man. A versatile player, van de Beek can play as a 10, as an 8, and as a 6. We may see such tweaks in the future, which would, in turn, help him gain more prominence towards the latter stages of this current campaign.

Getting the best out of the Red Devils ace would only help us in the future, considering his contributions at Amsterdam Arena. In the 175 matches the midfielder played for the Eredivisie side, he has scored 41 goals with 34 assists alongside it, which goes to show his high potential.

More Manchester United News

If the Man United boss could help the Dutch star excel in an environment where he can express himself to the fullest, we could instantly see us boost our chances of a top-four finish this term. Things would not be easy, though, as the man in charge has to find the right balance to integrate other players into the team as well.

Bruno Fernandes, Fred, and Scott McTominay have been three of the most prominent midfielders that Rangnick has selected time and again this season, With Paul Pogba still out, it remains to be seen where the Frenchman fits in the picture once he is back this season.
