Transfer Update: Sevilla unable to meet demands of loan deal for Manchester United ace Anthony Martial

According to transfer news on Marca (h/t Sun), Sevilla have been priced out of a move for Anthony Martial due to the demands of Manchester United over a potential loan deal.

The French international is primed for an exit in January. He has not been able to make his way back into the squad this season and has made it clear that he wants to leave Old Trafford. Ralf Rangnick has also revealed that the player shall be allowed to leave if it is in the best interest of the club. 

Sevilla have since tried to launch a bid to sign the striker on a loan move. However, Man United rejected that move as it did not meet the terms of an agreement. And it now looks like the Spanish club is priced out of a move since they are unwilling to pay half of the player’s £130k-a-week wages.

The Red Devils have also demanded a loan fee, which is another aspect the La Liga outfit are not keen on paying. In fact, the 2020 Europa League Champions are ready to look elsewhere unless the Premier League club alters their demands anytime soon, with Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini fresh on their radar. 

Unreasonable stance

The Frenchman may be willing to leave the Theatre of Dreams, but he shall have to do so on our terms. If he departs the club on a loan move, it is essential that we are financially compensated for it. We cannot be expected to hand out freebies and not profit in any way despite letting one of our better attackers play elsewhere.

It is not uncommon to demand any of these financial considerations. Sevilla may have other ideas, but they currently need the player more than we do, as they look to give Real Madrid a run for their money in the La Liga title race. 

Moreover, Martial has a contract at Old Trafford until 2024, leaving us under no obligation to allow him to leave on his terms anytime soon. If a prospective buyer is not ready to meet our terms, Rangnick can use the player’s services for the rest of the season.

We shall be competing on three fronts for the rest of the season, following the victory against Aston Villa in the Third Round of the FA Cup. The 26-year-old can act as more

than an able deputy and act as a valuable squad player till the end of the season. Thus, if the Spanish club continues to hold an unreasonable stance, Man United should have no trouble in keeping the centre-forward at the club this term.

We all know what the ex-AS Monaco man is capable of. So do his potential suitors. And it is more than fair for us to demand some financial compensation for letting him mid-season.
