Transfer News: Manchester United get valuation of Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma amidst Liverpool interest

According to The Athletic [Subscription Required] (h/t Metro), Manchester United have received the valuation of Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma amidst interest from Liverpool for a future transfer. The former requires some additions in midfield and could look to raid Falmer Stadium for their purpose.

Brighton manager Graham Potter mentioned this week that they had not received any offer for the services of Bissouma. His club could entertain a transfer if the interested parties make a bid worth £50million. But they are keen on keeping him at the club until the end of the current season.

The 25-year-old will enter the final year of his deal next summer, but he has not shown any signs of renewing his current contract. Arsenal and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the situation, and they would pose a considerable threat to Man United in their pursuit to get the central midfielder.

The man for Rangnick?

The lack of balance in our midfield is pretty much well known at this point since the board failed to address it for a long time. That has, in turn, affected our objectives for this season and has mainly contributed to our current plight. The Malian could be just what we need considering the problems we are facing currently.

The Premier League star has gone on to become one of the best in that position in the league, having joined the Seagulls in 2018, which has attracted attention from others. His ability to protect the ball, break down opposition plays and the technical skills to break through opponents makes him a great prospect to be signed.

The valuation is very expensive for someone who has just 18 months left on his current deal. The Brighton ace would be available at a cut-price next summer due to his contract situation but we may not have time to wait. That is because the issues we have seen so far could derail our chances of having a great season.

More Manchester United News

With only Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay as options for the double pivot role, the deficiencies and the risk factors involved are clearly highlighted even further. That means we cannot afford not to bring in someone this month as it could determine whether we would make the top four or not.

If the club has other targets on their shortlist and they believe others are more attainable, then it would be okay if we pass up the chance to sign him this month. That should only be the case if the said options are much cheaper, or else, it would not make sense. Time will tell us what lies in store for us in the coming days and whether we would decide to actively pursue the Mali international or not.
