Ralf Rangnick claims he will directly deal with wantaway Manchester United stars
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Ralf Rangnick claimed that he will address the wantaway Manchester United stars directly and professionally.
There is a lot of unrest at Old Trafford. Game-time has not been divided equitably, and this is bound to get to the players. Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial want to leave the club. On the other hand, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, and Juan Mata shall be out of contract in June.
Thus, this has created a ‘divide’ in the dressing room. However, Rangnick, who only arrived a month ago, is not fretting about this situation and believes this is an issue at every club.
‘I tend to explain to players every two or three weeks why they are not playing, but I cannot do it every week. That is an issue in our team and other clubs. We have players with contracts expiring in the summer. We have maybe also one or two players who want to leave and are under contract.
‘It is about the players dealing with that in a professional way. As far as I can tell so far, the players have been dealing with that in a professional way. I cannot say anything else. If I realise that is not the case, I will address that with the players direct.’
The best way to deal with fringe stars?
We are currently in a Top 4 race and are far from favourites of ensuring a Champions League spot. We are still competing in the UCL while our FA Cup journey is set to begin on Monday against Aston Villa. Thus, it is going to take top performances from top individuals for the next five months to have a successful season.
In such a scenario, we cannot offload several players. Martial may be allowed to leave, but only once the conditions over his deal are met. Additionally, the depth in our frontline makes it possible for his departure to not affect us.
However, the midfield line is thin, especially since Paul Pogba is also out injured. Thus, it is not going to be possible to compete on three fronts without Van de Beek. Henderson is also a quality back-up goalkeeper, and we will need him to step up if David de Gea experiences a dip in form or gets injured. Tom Heaton is at the club but is past his best years.

Thus, some sense needs to be talked into anybody that is creating a divide at the club. Not every player is going to start a particular number of games, and that is how the game has always worked. Rangnick has dealt with things until now but he might need to get stern if somebody goes out of their way to throw a tantrum anytime soon.
The last thing we need right now is a player that creates disharmony. If they desire to leave, they must understand that they are obliged to be with us until their contract expires and give it their best at Old Trafford. Rangnick claims such wantaway players are dealing with the situation professionally and we hope that it doesn’t change anytime soon.
