Transfer News: Manchester United star Anthony Martial waiting for Barcelona response

According to transfer news from Sport (h/t SportsWitness), Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has preferences over his next destination and is currently waiting for Barcelona’s response.

Anthony Martial has experienced a rapid fall in the last few seasons. The 26-year-old played extensively two seasons back. However, injuries and failure to hold consistency have put his United future in danger. The 26-year-old started the season in poor fashion and, despite seeing some game time, couldn’t show impactful performances under axed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The French star is yet to start a single game under Ralf Rangnick.

However, Martial has already chosen to end his misery at Manchester United. The French star’s agent recently revealed that his client wants to play somewhere else and seek an exit in the January window. Even though there are some viable offers on the table, it seems the 26-year-old has preferences over where he wants to end up next.

Sevilla, Juventus and Barcelona have all been linked with Martial recently. Newcastle tried their luck in the summer with an offer worth ‘just over’ €35m. However, the French star refused to join them, so the name of the Magpies can be crossed out from the list at this moment. The 26-year-old also doesn’t fancy a move to Old Lady.

It is believed that Martial’s agent offered him to Barcelona and is waiting for the Spanish side’s response. Meanwhile, the agent ‘freezing all other offers on the table.’

Xavi Hernández has Martial in his plans, but it seems the Barcelona camp would only consider a loan move.

Manchester United made Martial the most expensive teenager when they signed the French star from Monaco for £36m. The Red Devils are believed to be eyeing a part of that investment when considering any offer for the French star.

Barcelona are currently going through a bad financial state and doesn’t have the money-power to scintillate big money transfers. Therefore, the chances of a handsome offer for Martial are slim.

Even though it’s inevitable that Martial wants an exit, his preferences could prevent him from finding a new home in the January transfer window. A resurrection at United seems improbable after he made his intentions clear to the manager earlier in the previous month. If he fails to find a home, the French star would likely find himself on the bench.
