Transfer News: Andreas Pereira chooses to stay at Flamengo over a Manchester United return
According to transfer news from Bolavip (h/t SportsWitness), Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira has reached a verbal agreement with Flamengo for a four-year contract.
Andreas Pereira moved to Flamengo last summer. The attacking midfielder has shown improvement in his game after getting a considerable amount of game time with the Brazilian club. However, the 26-year-old made a fatal mistake in the Copa Libertadores final, which cost Mengão the title.
It is believed that the Manchester United loanee doesn’t want to return to Europe and has communicated his desire to stay at Flamengo. Furthermore, Despite the blunder in the final, the Brazilian side desires to keep hold of the player.
It is believed that Pereira has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ over a Four-year contract with Flamengo. The Brazilian club has agreed on a wage offer worth R$800k a month (around £26k a week).
Manchester United included a €20m buy-out clause when loaning Pereira. However, the Brazilian side is in no position to pay such an amount. It seems the Mengão are looking for a discount from the Red Devils and are confident about getting a reduction in the asking fee.
Andreas Pereira got enough chances to prove his worth at Manchester United. In his 75 appearances with the Red Devils senior team, the 26-year-old only managed to bag four goals and five assists. The Brazilian has shown some decent performances during his stay in Brazil, but his form is nowhere near competing in the Premier League. Therefore, the Flamengo man would be of no use to Ralf Rangnick upon returning.

However, the €20m price tag seems an over-ambitious demand from Manchester United. On top of that, it’s hard to find any Brazilian side who could agree on paying such a fee. Therefore, the Red Devils have to lower their guard. However, Ralf Rangnick’s team can get a better offer for the attacking midfielder from a Premier League side.
