Transfer News: Manchester United readying massive bid to sign West Ham United ace Declan Rice in the summer
According to transfer news on SunSport, Manchester United are readying a huge bid to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice in the summer window later this year.
The 22-year-old has continued to impress at the London Stadium this season, following an impressive 2020/21 campaign and European championship. There was interest in the midfielder in the summer, but the Hammers did not entertain any bids.
However, Man United are apparently still going ahead with putting in the groundwork in the coming weeks to make a massive bid for the player in the summer. The Red Devils are aware that he might cost nearly £100million, and they are ready to make him the centre-piece of their side.
Interim-boss Ralf Rangnick has also given his approval for the signing. The youngster still has two years left on his deal, but failure to secure Champions League football on the part of the East London club could instigate a transfer. Chelsea and Man City are also thought to be keen on sealing a move for the English international.
Top summer transfer target?
There are two names the Red Devils have been heavily linked with in the past six months– Erling Haaland and Declan Rice. There is competition for the signature of each player and both are likely to cost money-spinning fees. Moreover, both seem like future world-beaters and are of a good age profile.
However, it would be wise to prioritize a move for Rice if we cannot land both players. The attack has been firing relatively well this season, following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. But the midfield has not been coping well and needs serious repair work. Nemanja Matic will enter the final year of his deal in the summer and will also turn 34 this year.
Paul Pogba could also leave as a free agent at the end of the season. Fred and Scott McTominay are hard workers but lack consistency in quality. Thus, Rice could certainly refresh the midfield line and give a new look to a club that want to become league champions again.

The West Ham ace is a Premier League-seasoned midfielder and an established English international. It would require big bucks to sign him, but since Man United are ready to do so, it is wise to make him our top transfer target for the coming summer.
It also helps that he can double up as a centre-back if needed and his role of complementing his partner was visible in the 2020 UEFA Euros when Rice served as the base for Kalvin Phillips to get adventurous. A similar string of performances at Old Trafford in the coming years is just what the fans would be dreaming of right now.
