Transfer News: Manchester United reveal their demand for Axel Tuanzebe loan move
According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have demanded €1m from Napoli as the loan fee for Axel Tuanzebe.
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerard has found Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe pretty useful for his squad. The 24-year-old has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season. It is believed that the Liverpool legend wants to keep hold of the 24-year-old. However, strong interest from Serie A can hurt his intentions.
It seems Napoli have shown interest in loaning Tuanzebe from Manchester United. According to Fabrizio Romano, the talks have been initiated, and the Red Devils board have demanded a fee of €1m from Gli Azzurri. However, the Italian team have revealed that they are only interested in paying around €400k.
However, there is a catch. Axel Tuanzebe himself has communicated his intentions to join Napoli.
Axel Tuanzebe is yet to become a key player for Aston Villa. Even though Steven Gerard’s intentions suggests that he has some plans for the loanee, there is intense competition in the Lions squad for the centre back position. On the other hand, a move to Napoli can provide the 24-year-old with better opportunities to grow, eventually suitable for the player.
Man United currently have a lot to do to attain defensive solidity. Harry Maguire is still making blunders which are unacceptable for a player of his stature. On the other hand, Raphaël Varane has missed several matches and failed to provide consistent performances. Victor Lindelöf and Eric Bailly have fallen down the pecking order due to their drop in performance.
Axel Tuanzebe’s return to Old Trafford could have been helpful for Ralf Rangnick. However, the youngster might struggle to find game time after a short period due to the current squad depth.

At this age, playing games and achieving top-flight experience could be the critical factor for a player’s growth. Thus, a homecoming for Axel doesn’t seem advantageous. His intention to play for Napoli shows that the move can happen soon. It remains to be seen if Man United lower their prices.
