Transfer news: Manchester United are the latest club to show interest in Leeds star Raphinha
According to transfer news from Fichajes (h/t Manchestereveningnews), Manchester United have entered the race to sign Raphinha from Leeds.
Raphinha has been the highlight for Leeds in the campaign’s first half. The Brazilian forward has wreaked havoc in the Premier League with consistent goals and good soccer odds to end the season on a high. Currently, the 25-year-old averages one goal per two matches and have netted a total of 8 goals in the English top-flight competition.
Raphinha’s incredible goalscoring run has rewarded him with interest from several top clubs of the world. Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool have kept a tab on the situation. But, all the concerned teams would face added competition for the Brazilian star as it is believed that Manchester United have joined the race.
Bayern is awarded an interest; however, it is believed that a January move seems improbable for the German giant.
Manchester United have been overly dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo for goals this season. The Portuguese star scored his 8th goal of the campaign yesterday and continues to show hunger. However, the 35-year-old hasn’t got much help from his attacking partners.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have struggled to hold consistency. In comparison, Mason Greenwood isn’t getting plenty of game time to showcase his talent. Edinson Cavani has proved his influence whenever given a chance, but putting Ronaldo and Cavani in the same lineup has proven a little difficult for managers.
It’s evident that United need some help in the attacking department, and Raphinha is an excellent choice to cover up the need. The 25-year-old forward has a lot of experience playing at the top level. He could become a starter for Ralf Rangnick at the right flank. Greenwood is young and has a bright future; however, when it comes to experience, the Brazilian forward has the edge over the academy graduate.

Even if Manchester United attempt to sign Raphinha in the winter transfer window, there would be a massive competition for the Brazilian, who had an impressive first half. On the other hand, Leeds hasn’t expressed any interest to sell their key player. Therefore, Red Devils would require more than bucks to lure the 25-year-old.
