Journalist claims Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic not keen on Arsenal move amidst Manchester United interest

Speaking in an interview, as quoted by the Daily Mail, transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio claimed that Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic is not interested in joining Arsenal amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Serbian international has taken his performances to a new level this season. He scored 21 times last season and has banged in a further 16 league goals in the current campaign. In doing so, he equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most Serie A goals in a calendar year (33). Thus, his stock is certainly rising, and a host of clubs are keen on a move.

Man United are understandably amongst them. The Red Devils could have Edinson Cavani out of contract in the summer. In fact, Anthony Martial, too, could be heading for an exit in January. Thus, signing a talent like Vlahovic will be fantastic, but there will be some competition for his signature.

However, one club that is unlikely to stand a chance to land his services is Arsenal. The Gunners have performed well so far, but the Fiorentina star is not keen on a move to the Emirates. Gianluca di Marzio explained the player’s stance in a little more detail.

‘It depends on which project, how much money he is being given. Arsenal, for example, his agents do not want to speak to them. They think Arsenal is not enough for him and his career.’

‘They think that Tottenham or Man City or Man United are more fit for him…I don’t know if Tottenham will spend all the money, but the club should be the right fit for him in this moment of his career.’

Massive transfer boost

Although Di Marzio believes Spurs could also be the right fit for him, it is an open race until the finish line is crossed. The player’s representatives might have a club in mind, while the striker may have his own ambitions. Regardless, he would want a platform where he can take his game to the next level.

Man City and Tottenham can offer him that prospect but so can Man United. The Theatre of Dreams has been home to some of the best talents in world football over the last three decades. We have managed to lure the crème da le crème of football to Old Trafford, and signing Vlahovic would be no different.

Moreover, we have the prestige of being one of the most successful clubs in England. Man City are on the rise while Tottenham could get there in the next decade or so. But the Red Devils have been around for a while and our badge certainly holds more value in the English game.

The final decision would perhaps be made by the player and his representatives. Man United can try their best to lure him to Old Trafford because the prospect of him playing alongside Ronaldo is simply mouth-watering. In fact, once the Portuguese international hangs his boots, Vlahovic can even lead the frontline for several more years. But only time will tell whether the Old Trafford faithful could get to witness this in the near future.

For now, we must ensure that we come out of the winter transfer window a stronger team than we were going into it. Signing Vlahovic would be one of the smartest moves we could make right now, but transfers aren’t that easy to conduct and we may have to wait a while before we hear anything solid regarding this development.
