Manchester United star Victor Lindelof has claimed that the players at the club are “focusing” on football amidst talks of the Red Devils’ potential takeover.

Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS owner Jim RatcliffE have confirmed their intention to take control of the Old Trafford side.

However, speaking to the media via Metro, the Swedish defender is focused on Man United’s upcoming fixtures. The 28-year-old feels the players cannot afford to think about the takeover.

“I haven’t given that [takeover] a thought, you know, especially now with the schedule. We can’t think about that. We just have to think about the games and prepare the best we can do.

“Whatever happens happens, but we’re just focusing on our performances right now.”

The Red Devils are in the crunch period of their season. We are currently alive in all four competitions. However, the next few weeks will determine how much success the Old Trafford side will be able to achieve.

Next up, the Manchester-based club will welcome Barcelona in the second leg of the Europa League playoff tie. The reverse fixture at Camp Nou ended in a 2-2 draw. A win will ensure the victors progress to the round of 16 of the competition.

Soon after, Man United will go up against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final. Erik ten Hag has the chance to end the five-year trophy drought at the Old Trafford side.

On our return to Premier League action on 5 March, we will face Liverpool at Anfield. The North-West derby is an important match for both sets of fans, considering the historical rivalry between the two clubs.

Lindelof has not played much in the current campaign. The centre-back has to bide his time on the bench under the new gaffer, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane the preferred partnership at the back.

Considering Man United’s run-in, squad depth will evidently come in handy if we face any unforeseen issues. Hopefully, the Sweden international will be ready when called upon by Ten Hag, like he was against Leicester City in the 3-0 win.
