Manchester United agree terms with Boubacar Kamara for January transfer

According to FourFourTwo (h/t Wales Online), Manchester United have ‘agreed’ on terms with Boubacar Kamara to sign him from Marseille in the January transfer window. He is set to become the first signing under the managerial tenure of Ralf Rangnick, pending an official announcement by the club.

Man United have apparently reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 starlet for signing him from Marseille with a transfer fee of around £10million being quoted for his services. His contract is expiring at the end of the season, which has caused the price tag to plummet, prompting United to take their chances.

The 22-year-old would be a smart addition for the Red Devils considering how we have yearned for some stability in midfield. He could offer that, looking at how he has performed and the growth he has shown recently. He has not reached his full potential yet, which makes the potential signing even more exciting to think about.

A steal?

We do need additions in our defensive midfield position, especially considering how Rangnick has used a double pivot in midfield. Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic are our only natural options which would not be ideal in a long season looking at the risks it brings on.

If one of them gets injured or suspended, it could derail our season due to the lack of sufficient backups. Matic is well past his prime, which calls for reinforcements regardless of the above situation. The Frenchman can slot in that role and would also address the midfield issues that plagued us for many months.

The Ligue 1 starlet has earned praises for his defensive output as well as the technical skills that he possesses. He has played 19 matches for his side this term while helping them to nine clean sheets in the process. A young and able midfielder on and off the ball, he is a player that can rightly be considered as one of the many promising talents in France’s first division.

Kamara is expected to be announced soon as a Manchester United player.

More Manchester United News

The midfield duo of McFred– minus the negative connotations that nickname has earned over the months- has gotten better following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but it’s not like they cannot use or benefit from competition and/or backup. The Marseille youngster could pair with one of them to provide defensive solidity while injecting some technical skills needed to progress the ball.

We should, however, be cautious regarding any news of this deal being completed until there is some murmur from one of the clubs. But there is no smoke without fire, and hopefully, that is the case here as well.
