RB Leipzig ace Amadou Haidara makes stunning Manchester United revelation amidst transfer links
Speaking to German outlet BILD, as quoted by The Mirror, RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara revealed that Manchester United was his favourite team as a kid amidst recent transfer interest from the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old ace started his career in Europe at RB Salzburg. After three stunning seasons at the Austrian outfit, Ralf Rangnick convinced him to make the switch to RB Leipzig. Thus, there is every chance he signs for Man United next month since he already has a good understanding with our interim boss.
However, the player’s intentions were unknown amidst several sources linking him to the Old Trafford outfit. Haidara has now come out and has revealed that he feels good at the German club.
But before doing so, he did mention that Man United were his favourite team growing up. Moreover, he also stated that he was a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, a player who re-signed for us this summer after 12 years away from Old Trafford.
“Everyone had a favourite team as a kid. Mine was Manchester United. I was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. I liked Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra, Edwin van der Sar, Anderson. But if you want to talk to me about rumours: I am at Leipzig, and I feel good.”
The midfielder also talked fondly about Rangnick, the man behind our mini-revival this season after a slump in form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“Yes, Ralf plays a very big role in my career… I am very grateful to him because he really wanted me and gave me great confidence as a coach in Leipzig.”
Advantage Man United?
The former Salzburg ace has mentioned that he is happy at the Bundesliga outfit but has subtly indicated that he has a connection to the Red Devils. Playing for the team you idolised as a kid is a dream for many professional footballers and Man United would be wise to use this to their advantage, in whichever they can.
In fact, they would also be offering him the prospect of actually playing with Ronaldo. Not to mention, he would be coached by Rangnick for the first six months if he signs for us in the winter, before the German coach assumes the role of a consultant later on.
We could certainly use some reinforcements in the centre of the pitch for the long run as well. Paul Pogba is likely to leave in the summer, while Fred and Scott McTominay can’t be trusted to play every single game for 365 days a year. Back-up in midfield is essential, and so is competition. The addition of an able, exciting, and dynamic player like Haidara would spur other United midfielders into wanting to impress the German boss even more.

Thus, getting Haidara through the door in January should be high on our priority list as he could help us improve our performances to some extent. It would also give Rangnick the chance to have one of his previous players indicate to the rest of the squad what it takes to be a player under the former Leipzig coach.
