According to the club’s official website, Manchester United have shut down their first-team facilities at Carrington after the recent Covid outbreak. Several individuals have tested positive for the virus yesterday ahead of the clash against Brentford in Premier League.
Staff members and players were both among those who tested positive for the coronavirus following the PCR test. Man United released a statement, where they explained their decision to close down the first team facilities at Carrington Training Complex. They also confirmed that those who were identified as being affected are currently in isolation as per protocols.
Man United have closed down the facilities for 24 hours to reduce the risk of the outbreak spreading and are currently in conversation with the league. It will be decided whether the match on Tuesday is safe to be played or not, looking at the different factors surrounding the situation.
Right decision?
The safety of the players and other people involved should always take priority in such situations. If needed, the match on Tuesday should be postponed to another date to make sure that the spread is fully contained. If not, it would continue to plague us moving forward, which would lead to an even worse situation.
