Transfer News: Manchester United ace Edinson Cavani could join Corinthians
Speaking to GE, as quoted by The Sun, Walter Guglielmone revealed that he is in talks to seal a transfer exit for his client and Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, with Brazilian giants Corinthians interested.
The 34-year-old joined the Old Trafford outfit last summer from Paris Saint-Germain. He led the line brilliantly last season, only to be displaced from the centre-forward role by Cristiano Ronaldo this term.
The Portuguese star has been the main man since his arrival this summer. Cavani has struggled for game-time and could now well be on his way out of the Theatre of Dreams. There are several clubs interested in him, including Palmeiras, Boca Juniors, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
Corinthians have also joined the race to sign Cavani, who shall be out of contract next summer. The player’s agent, Walter Guglielmone, recently revealed that they are keeping their options open.
“We have to wait a bit (regarding a return to South America). We will see what possibilities exist. Obviously, if any team from Brazil comes up with a good project, we can always listen. I have an obligation to get Cavani all the options.”
End of the road for Cavani?
The Uruguayan international has given his all for the famous red jersey whenever he has stepped onto the pitch. His professionalism and goal-scoring ability are appreciated quite a bit by the Old Trafford faithful.
However, his contract shall expire at the end of the season and there has been no solid news of an extension. If Man United want to churn out a transfer fee for him, they could do so in January. But letting him leave mid-season could hurt our ambitions for the current campaign.
The Red Devils are still very much in contention to finish in the Top 4 and go the distance in the Champions League. Thus, while several clubs are interested in signing the player, the Manchester-based club should look to hold on to him for a little bit longer.

He has previously stated his desire to return to South America. It could be a fairy tale homecoming for him but for now, he needs to focus on how he can contribute to the side under the management of Ralf Rangnick.
Since he was a free signing for us to begin with, it’s not like we would be losing a lot of money letting him leave in the summer instead of the winter. It is best that we keep all our weapons locked and loaded in the arsenal and take a call on them in the summer, unless, of course, they are truly not required at the club by our new interim manager.
