Ralf Rangnick provides injury update on Manchester United ace Victor Lindelof after heart scare vs Norwich City

Speaking in his post-match press conference, as quoted by Manchester Evening NewsRalf Rangnick provided an injury update on Manchester United ace Victor Lindelof as he claimed that the defender should be fine suffering a heart scare in the victory against Norwich City.

The Swedish international has been one of our better defenders this season. Harry Maguire has had blips in form, while Raphael Varane has not been fit enough to produce a string of good performances.

In such times, the 27-year-old has stepped up to the plate, especially under the new management. But it was worrying after he went down on the pitch 70 minutes into the game, as he was clutching his chest. The defender appeared to have breathing issues as he was being examined by club doctor Steve McNally.

The medical team did some tests in the dressing room after he went down the tunnel. Rangnick later provided an update stating that the centre-back is okay and should be fit to face Brentford on Tuesday night.

“He cannot even remember himself how it happened. I think he had a collision with another player, and he had problems breathing for more than 10 minutes. His heart rate was higher than normal, and he was a little bit shocked. He did not know how to deal with it. We had to replace him.

“After the game, we did some check-ups and some examinations by the doctor. It seems everything is okay. We still have to see how he is doing tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be fit for the game against Brentford.”

Worrying scenes

Although there are few worries about his health now, the looks on the faces of the Man United players told the whole story when the defender sat down on the turf. There was a sense of anxiety regarding the health of the star.

Christian Eriksen faced a heart-related issue earlier this year, as has Sergio Aguero. Both players have not returned to the pitch since those incidents, indicating the severity of the situation.

However, it is a relief to hear that the Swedish ace could be fit to face Brentford. We are in the midst of a Top 4 race, and the pressure shall be on if West Ham secure a victory against Burnley on Sunday afternoon. Moreover, Spurs also have two games in hand and are within touching distance. Arsenal are also only a point behind.

Thus, it is a tight race, and there are several competitors for it. Regardless, we have the players to win most games, as showcased by our near-edged victory last night. But Rangnick shall be hoping to have Lindelof back on Tuesday as his side will be looking to keep a third straight clean sheet in the league under the German manager.

And more importantly, it is a relief to hear that one of our very own players is fit and fine, or at least will be soon, because at the end of the day, the health of footballers is bigger than the sport.
