Transfer News: Milan duo tracking Manchester United full-back Alex Telles

According to The Sun, Serie A giants, AC Milan and Inter Milan have made Manchester United full-back Alex Telles a January transfer target.

The Brazilian’s Man United career has been a mixture of highs and lows. Former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær did not appear to be a big fan of the full-back and usually preferred Luke Shaw instead. After signing for the Red Devils in October 2020, Telles has only made 30 appearances. This season’s story hasn’t improved as he has been limited to only two Premier League appearances.

Even under Michael Carrick, the fullback couldn’t get any opportunities. This lack of game time could push towards the exit, and the Milan giants are looking for such loopholes currently. It is believed that both AC Milan and Inter Milan desire to lure the full-back to Italy on loan.

However, the Manchester-based club’s stance is evident as they are planning to block any offer for the player in the January window. The Red Devils would rather sell the player next summer. Man United invested £13.5m in the 28-year-old player, and they will be keen to recoup what they can.

The move makes sense as Telles isn’t making any real impact on the team’s on-field performance. Nevertheless, it’s hard to surpass Shaw in the pecking order, and the English footballer has performed exceptionally well in the last few seasons. As long as he is giving top class performances, no manager would have a problem in making him their first choice left-back.

On the other hand, losing the 28-year-old without signing a proper replacement could hurt Man United’s squad depth. The Premier League is highly competitive and physically testing. In such a case, any injury to Luke could unsettle our squad balance.

Man United have a decision to make the next summer. While Telles is good and has impressed from time to time, it would appear that he will have to do much better to usurp Luke Shaw.Whether that will happen anytime soon remains to be seen.
