Manchester United star Fred keen to keep his good run of form going under Ralf Rangnick

According to the club’s official matchday program, as quoted by The Mirror, Fred is keen to keep his good run of form going with Ralf Rangnick now announced as Manchester United’s interim manager.

The German tactician is the club’s new interim manager and will remain in charge at Old Trafford until the end of the season. He will then take up the role of a consultant, hitching his future to that of the club for the next two years.

With a new era set to begin at Old Trafford, it remains to be seen if every player will be handed a clean slate. One midfielder who can benefit from it is Fred. The Brazilian has been a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskajer but has never quite managed to convince all fans of his worth.

Fred has stepped up in the last two games.

Caretaker manager Michael Carrick used the pressing game to good effect in his two games in charge. Fred was particularly impressive against Villarreal, playing a direct role in his side’s win.

“It was good for me because the press is important in the game. It’s not my assist but I was really happy with my two steals of the ball which resulted in both of our goals during the game.”

With Scot McTominay and Nemanja Matic keeping track, the Brazilian has been afforded more freedom to get forward. Fred appears to have grown into the role and hopes to continue delivering. Doing so could very well see him discover new strengths we never knew he had.

“It was really important, and I hope to continue putting this work in as it’s important for both me and the team.”

Rangnick is now the man in charge.

Fred admits that he is keen to keep fulfilling his new role and show off his importance to the team. The fact that he mentions the role as something important for him is key. It could suggest that the 28-year-old is keen to add a new element to his game to protect his position in the squad.

The 28-year-old’s performances for Man United have so far been more of a miss than a hit. Unless he can pull up his socks and show off his worth, the chances of him meeting the demands of a thinker like Rangnick appears unlikely.

Manchester United have a long road ahead of them in the journey to becoming the top team in the land once again. While Rangnick is just the latest man to take the wheel, whether he can steer us in the right direction remains to be seen.

Whether it be Fred or even Cristiano Ronaldo, everyone has to pull their weight for the side to become successful. The Brazilian midfielder has not always found favour with the fans, but he would look to start with a clean slate under the German tactician.
