Manchester United stars unhappy at being kept in the dark over Ralf Rangnick
According to The Times (Subscription Required), Manchester United players are chuffed about being left in the dark regarding the club’s talks with Ralf Rangnick.
The 63-year-old looks set to become the club’s interim boss until the remainder of the season. The managerial post was vacated earlier this week when the club parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
While there is considerable excitement among fans regarding the German tactician’s arrival, the players for their part weren’t thrilled as to how the whole thing played out. The move for Rangnick was not brought to their attention either in person or their WhatsApp group.
However, while they may be annoyed, there is little to suggest they will rise up in revolt. Most are in fact intrigued by what the German can bring to Old Trafford. One of the foremost minds of his generation, Rangnick has made a reputation for himself as an astute tactician.
He now has the opportunity to leave a mark at one of the biggest clubs in the land. Man United have the players and the resources. They now also appear to have the man who can make use of those to ensure sustained success.
While Solskjaer’s spell brought with it a sense of nostalgia, it can be argued that it stunted Man United’s ability to forge a new era of glory. Rangnick is a no holds barred leader who does his work do the talking. It is exactly the no-nonsense attitude we needed in the man at the helm.
Do your job
The players for their part can feel offended at being kept in the dark. But they will have to put it behind and step up to the occasion. A new era is dawning at Old Trafford and the players will need to be on their toes.
Just who will make the cut and who will be considered expendable by the incoming German remains to be seen. Time for games is over and the Red Devils need to take stock of their situation and salvage the season.

Man United, for their part, will not be paying Lokomotiv Moscow any compensation for garnering Rangnick’s services. The German is also in line to receive a generous bonus should he lead the club to a trophy this season.
While our Carabao Cup participation ended in defeat, the club is well and truly alive in other competitions. With much of the seasons till to play, there is every chance that Rangnick can lead the club back to the promised land.
