Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addresses entire Manchester United managerial career in exit interview after being sacked
Speaking to the official website of the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opened up on various moments during his managerial tenure at Manchester United in an exit interview after being sacked on Sunday morning.
The Norwegian parted ways with the club on the weekend after United were defeated 4-1 by Watford. The 48-year-old had joined the club as interim boss in December 2018 before taking over the reins permanently in the following summer.
He also agreed to an exit interview before leaving the club. He initially made it clear that he has given everything for the club despite the endless criticism.
“I want to get it out there, I’m going to leave by the front door because I think everyone knows I’ve given everything for this club.”
Solskjaer also mentioned the unbeaten away run as one of his special memories.
The away run, the unbeaten away run. That’s something we don’t speak about when we’re in it because that’s not us, me, Mick [Phelan], Michael [Carrick], Kieran, we’re not that type of people. But that’s something for me now that I can look back at and be proud of.”
He also stated that he feels there is a lot of ‘potential’ in this club and that he has left a good squad.
“I think there is potential in this club. We all love the club, and we all want to see it continue…I am a fan, and I wish the players all the best.

The former United striker also addressed the good work he did with the academy, his regrets over not winning a trophy before mentioning that he is very proud of the work he carried out here. It goes without saying that the Norwegian rebuilt the club from a difficult phase. Jose Mourinho did not leave happy memories amongst the fans after his departure in 2018.
Solskjaer revitalized the club and introduced the youth into the first team. He signed the right players and has since built an incredible squad. His managerial inexperience did cost us at times, but he still managed to accomplish Top 4 finishes.
Regardless of the calibre of the next manager, the 48-year-old has left a legacy behind that shall help most succeed. It is the end of the road, but Solskjaer made it clear that he remains a fan of the club and shall continue to support the team despite not being on the touchline.
