Manager News: Mauricio Pochettino ‘No 1 target’ for Manchester United to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol (h/t Express), Manchester United have made Paris Saint-German manager Mauricio Pochettino their prime target for the head manager role.

The Manchester United board have axed Ole Gunnar Solskjær after a dismal start to the season. As a result, the Red Devils would need a new manager to take over the reign at Old Trafford. But it seems the United board is not looking for a permanent solution at this moment.

Despite sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the Manchester hierarchy pointed out that they are looking for an interim manager for the role.

Mauricio Pochettino has been long linked with a move to United. It seems this time he could be one of the reasons why the board is planning to get over with this season with an interim manager.

It is believed that the Manchester United board has made the Argentine manager their prime target to become the next head manager. But it seems that won’t be possible during midseason. As the 49-year-old manager is involved in his first season in charge with the French team, it’s implausible that he’d sacrifice the current job midseason.

Erik Ten Hag is also on the list of targets for the Manchester United board.

It is also believed that the Red Devils board has made the Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag their no. 2 target for the position. But his availability also remains obstinate due to his obligations in Amsterdam.

In such a case, Ed Woodward’s board would have to wait patiently for the following summer window to get their preferable man for the job.
