Laurent Blanc leading race to becoming Manchester United interim manager after club sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to The Independent (h/t The Express), Laurent Blanc is leading the race to being appointed the Manchester United interim manager after the club sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It was a hard weekend for United fans. The defeat to Watford was utterly humiliating, but it was also the final nail in Solskjaer’s coffin. The board backed him until the end, but they had to pull the plug before it was too late.

The club appointed Michael Carrick as the caretaker for the while. The former Englishman has a good understanding of the club and was a part of the staff working with Solskjaer.

However, he is a short-term fix, and United might find a more experienced boss to guide the club this season. In fact, Laurent Blanc is leading the race to being appointed the interim manager.

The French manager is currently managing in the Middle East with Al-Rayyan. But he has a good relationship with the United hierarchy and that bodes well for all the concerned parties.

Moreover, he has experience in managing clubs in the Champions League. He did a good job at Paris Saint-Germain for three years between 2013-2016 and took time off until last year when he joined the Middle East club.

In fact, Blanc is also a former player and understands the DNA of the Red Devils. He could bring about some stability and some calm over the next 7 months aa the club look to begin a new era.
