According to The Independent (h/t The Express), Ed Woodward likes the idea of hiring Zinedine Zidane as the replacement to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
The Norwegian was finally sacked on Sunday after an abysmal two months of football. United picked up their fifth loss in seven league games after they were defeated by Watford. Laurent Blanc might take over as interim manager, but a replacement needs to be found for next season.
However, the choices are far and few. Brendan Rodgers looks a viable option, especially since things are not going well at Leicester City this season. However, he remains contracted to them.
Erik Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are great alternatives but are handling fantastic projects at Ajax and PSG respectively. Diego Simeone also caught the eye of the board but it is apparently ‘impossible’ to bring him to Old Trafford.
However, Ed Woodward has a different opinion. The vice-executive chairman loves the idea of hiring Zinedine Zidane. The 3-time Champions League winner left Real Madrid for the second time this summer after falling out with Florentino Perez.
He has already worked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane and would be coming to one of the biggest clubs in world football. It also bodes well for the Red Devils that Zidane is currently out of work.

However, this might not be enough to convince him to make the move to England as he has no interest in coming to the Premier League. This could be a real problem as the club need an experienced head at the helm.
Thus, United shall have to lure somebody out of their current jobs and attract them to the project at the theatre of dreams.
