Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood tests postive for Covid-19 coronavirus
Speaking to MUTV (h/t Sky Sports), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus. He was speaking ahead of the 4-1 loss against Watford in the Premier League today.
After missing the match today, the 20-year-old is most likely to miss the next two games for the Red Devils. They will face Villarreal in the Champions League and Chelsea in the league in succession, and he is expected to miss the match due to being in quarantine.
Greenwood was not pictured in training this week and had subsequently missed the matchday squad for the trip to Vicarage Road. Having started ten matches out of a possible 11 this season, he could have been in line to be in the starting lineup.
“Mason has got COVID unfortunately. He’s tested positive, so we’ll wait for him to get back.”
The England international has played 14 matches this season and has scored four goals with an assist to his name. He started strongly this season, having scored in the first three league matches but has cooled off since then.
Man United continued their slump after the international break as the Hornets tore through them during the game. Claudio Ranieri’s side went into the break with a 2-0 lead but, Donny van de Beek put United back in contention after coming off from the bench.
