Manchester United have officially sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to an official statement from Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally been sacked as manager of Manchester United on Sunday morning.

While the Norwegian may have enjoyed a great playing career with Manchester United, his managerial tenure at the club was filled with many highs and lows. He took over from Jose Mourinho as interim manager and was soon awarded that position permanently after a run of favourable results.

The 48-year-old manager had to endure a tricky time as manager of the Red Devils as he failed to secure any silverware during his time as manager at Old Trafford. The Manchester-based club came really close to winning the UEFA Europa League last season but lost out to Villarreal CF on penalties in the semi-finals.

While the club invested heavily in getting more reinforcements in the last transfer window, the Red Devils have struggled to maintain their attacking threat and consistency throughout the season. Man United have not only struggled to open up bigger opposition but have also found it difficult to hold a tight ship at the back.

The pressure was already mounting on the Former Molde FK manager after humiliating defeats to Leicester City, Liverpool, and Manchester City in the Premier League this season, but the loss to Watford seems to have been the final nail in the coffin for Ole.

Michael Carrick will officially lead the team until the Red Devils can find a suitable replacement for Solskjaer. The fans were split on Twitter as they showcased the good as well as the bad sides of the Norwegian manager’s reign at Old Trafford.

No matter the trajectory of his managerial career so far it is hard to ignore all the things that he has done for the club as a player and legend. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be hoping that the fans would remember him for his better moments at the club rather than the disappointing run of results in the last few weeks.
