Jermaine Jenas says Manchester United players are not playing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Watford loss

Speaking on BT Sport during the first-half break (h/t Metro), Jermaine Jenas has given a damning verdict on the Manchester United players and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the loss against Watford. United lost 4-1 on the night as they continue to slump in form following the international break.

Claudio Ranieri’s side cruised to a 2-0 lead in the first half, which was cut short by Donny van de Beek after getting substituted. However, Harry Maguire got sent off in the second half, and a late flurry saw the Hornets put two more past David de Gea in goal.

The match also saw de Gea saving the graces of the Red Devils as he saved two penalties to keep the scoreline less humiliating. Jenas said during the break that the players are not playing for their coach, which shows the pressure that is building on Solskjaer.

“They’re not playing for him. The bottom line of it is that. I’ve played in games where all of a sudden you look around and you say, “This just don’t feel right”.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur player conveyed that the Norwegian may have lost the dressing room looking at the body language of the players. He adds how there is talk about the managerial job but, the performances are enough to give one the entire picture.

“And you know the manager is under pressure. They’re not playing for him. There’s been a lot of sensitivity around Ole and his job, and sometimes it’s just about performances.”

While there is a lot of sensitivity regarding the Norwegian’s job and position, the performances on the field have failed to reflect that. Whether Solskajer has managed his last game for United remains to be seen.

Coming into this game, Ole had backed the United skipper, who is also under pressure, but things could not get worse for both of them. With a tough run of fixtures against Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal are to follow this game, it remains to be seen how things turn out in the days to come.
