According to Football Insider (h/t ESPN), Manchester United are plotting to do a massive squad cleanup comprising of five players in the January transfer window. The first team consists of several players who are unhappy due to various reasons.

The Glazers are planning to let Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, Paul Pogba and Phil Jones leave Old Trafford in January. The quintet has been shortlisted as dispensable and are on the transfer list to raise funds for new reinforcements.

The United board are open to letting them leave permanently or on loan to raise some much needed revenue. Van de Beek has been cast aside by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since his £39million move while Lingard has also received similar treatment this season.

Henderson was brought in to replace David de Gea, who was having a terrible time at Old Trafford. However, the Spaniard has since upped his game and retained his starting spot. Phil Jones was sidelined initially due to injury and then competition and new arrivals. His future at the club has appeared unclear for some time now.

Pogba has been a topic of conversation since his return, having not shown his quality consistently enough on the pitch. With Mino Raiola as his agent, things have been complicated between him and the Man United hierarchy.

The Red Devils have been suffering from a poor run of results this season, and having a squad comprising of fringe players would add to the issue. Harmony and cohesion are necessary to pull the club out of this plight and, such disorder would not be of any help.
