Manchester United star Nemanja Matic admits PL glory in Red equals that with Chelsea

Speaking to Serbian daily Vecernje Novosti (h/t Daily Mail), Nemanja Matic has revealed that Premier League success with Manchester United will be a special moment for him.

Winning the English top-flight will not be a new experience for the 32-year-old. Matic won two Premier League titles with Chelsea in 2015 and 2017.

While his move to Old Trafford has not yielded any trophies, there is now real hope that we could challenge given the club’s recent results.

“It would certainly amount to making another dream a reality after winning two titles at Chelsea.”

United last won the Premier League in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson. It was the legendary Scot’s last season and he left in style by delivering our 20th title.

Adding number 21 to the kitty will be a dream come true for Matic. He will join an elite list of players who have won the competition with two different clubs.

Matic believes the triumph will also rank amongst his greatest, on par with what he managed to win while at Chelsea.

“It’d be on par with what I accomplished at Chelsea.”

With Liverpool looking on course to equal our tally, there is no better time than now for us to rediscover our love for the competition.

United take on Leicester City on Saturday and a win will take us to within two points of Liverpool. The Merseysiders do not play until Sunday.

Matic also admitted that he misses playing in front of fans. With coronavirus restrictions in effect, playing in front of empty seats has become the norm.

The 32-year-old has likened the matches to training games due to the new norms. Hopefully, fans will be back in attendance to see the Serbian win yet another Premier League title. This time in red.
