Transfer News: Real Madrid are eyeing a deal for Manchester United star Donny van de Beek

According to transfer news on Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Real Madrid are looking to orchestrate a move for Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek.

The 24-year-old has once again been warming the bench at Old Trafford. The only difference this season is that there are many more players like him in the dugout. However, that does not justify Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not selecting him.

Van de Beek has given his all as a substitute, and the midfielder could have been handed some starts. In contrast, he has not started a single league game this season. His two starts have come against BSC Young Boys in the Champions League and West Ham in the EFL Cup.

Both games ended in defeats, but he was brought off in the UCL tie and was the standout player in the latter. Regardless, if Solskjaer cannot guarantee the Dutchman consistent minutes, he could be on his way out soon.

In fact, there is no shortage of suitors. Newcastle United have been linked with the player while Wolves also recently joined the race. However, there is a new club in the running in 13-time European champions, Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are aware of their ageing midfield line, especially Luka Modric, who shall turn 37 next year. They are monitoring the situation of the Dutch international and are planning on replacing the 2018 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner with the United ace.

However, this situation could soon change. Paul Pogba has been ruled out of action till the end of the year and Van de Beek could get some minutes. If he does perform well and digs the club out of the current situation, he could become an invaluable asset.

Moreover, Pogba might be leaving permanently next summer after his contract expires and coincidentally, Madrid have been linked with him recently. Hence, there are several factors to be considered but if Real Madrid do come calling for either of the midfielders, few reject them, given their status in world football.
