Dean Henderson wants to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis despite being offered a loan prospect
According to The Express, Dean Henderson has expressed his desire to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis despite being offered the prospect of being sent out on loan.
The shot-stopper has a topsy-turvy year at Old Trafford. He was getting a lot more minutes towards the end of last season and was selected by England for the Euros. However, he had to withdraw from the squad after suffering an injury.
There was the prospect of actively competing for a starting spot at United, but the 24-year-old came down with Covid-19. It took him longer than expected to make his return as he made his first appearance in the EFL Cup loss against West Ham in September.
Since then, he has been on the bench and has seen David de Gea start in every single game. The Spaniard has been one of the saviours of our season so far, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Henderson has more important things to worry about. The Englishman wants to make the World Cup squad in 2022 after the Three Lions sealed qualification earlier this week.
The Red Devils are thought to be open to loaning him out until 2023. However, the goalkeeper wants to orchestrate a permanent exit from the theatre of dreams. That is a huge ask, as he signed a new contract last year, committing his future until 2025.

The player has also talked to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has not guaranteed the keeper any game-time. Moreover, there have been claims for De Gea signing a new deal, and Henderson might not want to wait until the 31-year-old retires. Newcastle United are interested in concluding a deal for him, but the final decision may lie with United.
Hence, a decision needs to be made soon regarding some of the fringe players including Henderson and even Jesse Lingard. The 28-year-old playmaker is another England international linked with a move away from the club in the near future.
